Mini Terrariums

As seen on Design Sponge.

As seen on Design Sponge.

I have come across little terrariums on a couple different blogs now and am considering making my own. They are a great way to have a pretty and tidy little garden in your home. I am not great with plants so I am thinking that mine will mostly consist of hearty succulents. I may even endeavor to make the homemade terrarium as seen below. Have any plant suggestions for a shaded room? I would love to hear from you!

Great insight into early fatherhood

(Photo from A Cup of Jo)

I came across a great post on one my favorite blogs A Cup of Jo today. It was actually a guest post from her husband, Alexi entitled "8 Confessions of a New Dad". Alexi is refreshingly candid and rather amusing as he reveals his own fears and observations including the fact that he did not feel the same bond with the baby immediately that his wife had, how he was nervous that this wife would love the baby more then him and how children's books are typically pretty boring. I have the utmost respect for the writer, Alexi and his wife (Jo) for being willing to share these intimate feelings and concerns. Check it out, "8 Confessions of a New Dad."

Look I Love...1 lady and 2 gentlemen

This is a fabulous way to wear a long skirt without looking bohemian.

As my readers will know, I LOVE yellow. Yellow rooms, yellow bikes, yellow accessories etc. So, after seeing it on two different girls on Lookbook, I absolutely had to post about this gorgeous bright yellow Romwe Academic-Style Bag. I also suggest checking out the other items featured on this site. They carry both vintage and new items that are super cute and stylish at very reasonable prices.  I adore their accessories and they are sooo cheap! Here are a few of my favorites:

I (heart) Wedges

My favorite wedges that I had from 2006 just broke on the way to work the other day. I am going to try to have them fixed but in the mean time I could really use another pair. Here are some options that I am considering:

Sterling Shoes, Black. The yellow are also awesome, but not as practical.
Sterling Shoes, pictured in Khaki but I would go for cream or black.

Aldo, in yellow. I know these are not wedges but I am in love with them. I may need these too! Such a great 70's vibe.

Look I Love

Another great outfit from Miss Maegan of Maegan. I love the nautical stripes with the cropped red jeans.

These gorgeous wedges are also from Maegan. That girl has a very enviable collection of shoes! Those above are Velvet Angels gold & mint Bottomline wedges.

Donald Glover...general dopeness

Will and I have recently become obsessed with the show Community. When we moved we decided to save money and cut our cable and just use netflix. One day during dinner, I threw on the first episode of Community. I had low expectations, but was pleasantly surprised. I freakin' love this show! It is absolutely hilarious. However, I must admit that I had caught a few episodes here and there back when we had cable and was not hooked. It is definitely one of those shows that you have to watch from the beginning in order to understand each character and how they interact with each other. Then it becomes pee-your-pants funny.

While checking out a highly amusing blog called Awesome People Hanging Out Together, I came across the above photo of Parks and Recreation actor, Aziz Ansari and Donald Glover, who plays Troy on Community. I was pleased to see that not only is Donald Glover super funny, but he is also super stylish. I googled him and it turns out that he has his own blog appropriately titled IAMDONALD. He blogs about everything from fashion to home decor, food, awesome places to hang out and "general dopeness". He obviously puts in some time, effort and enthusiasm into the blog so check it out.

Donald Glover is a blogger nerd too...awesome!

Fashion Fab or Fail...70's Style Flares

As seen on the lovely Maegan of Maegan.

Emmerson-made denim as seen on A Cup of Jo.

This summer seems to be be all about 70's style and the re-introduction of higher-waisted, widely flared jeans. Personally, I am a fan. Being short and hourglass shaped, I cannot wear low slung, wide flares. I look stumpy to put it bluntly. With the higher and more fitted waist, I can actually have the illusion of longer legs which is always a good thing.

What are you thoughts? Comments are always welcome and encouraged!

Fashion Fab or Fail...Colourful Cropped Pants!

So, summer is finally starting to show up in Vancouver and so are the summer trends. One that I keep seeing is brightly coloured cropped pants. I think I am digging about you?

Still Under Construction

I am still working on the site and will hopefully have the changes all complete by the end of the week! The current banner is a rough draft of what I am working on :D

Film I Love: Midnight in Paris

This weekend, my mom and I went and saw Woody Allan's latest film, Midnight in Paris. As soon as the film ended, I turned to my mom and told her that "I loved it". She felt the same. It is delightful, whimsical and highly imaginative. MIP stars Owen Wilson as Gil, a screenwriter from Beverly Hills who longs to be what he feels is a real writer, a novelist. He has traveled to Paris for vacation with his fiancee and soon-to-be inlaws. He is enthralled by the beauty of the city, but finds that he longs for something beyond his regular life believing that he would have been more suited to have lived in Paris in the 1920's Jazz Age. I will not say anymore as I don't want to ruin it for anyone. I will simply say see it. Rachel McAdams, Michael Sheen, Carla Bruni and Alison Pill also appear in the film and are great. I must say though that my favorite actors in the film are Marion Cotillard, whom I find absolutely enchanting; Adrien Brody, who is truly fabulous in his brief role; Kathy Bates who is always fantastic; and Corey Stoll, who is typically seen on the small screen in shows such as Law & Order: Los Angeles is utterly fantastic as a famously brooding writer.

See MIP for the gorgeous Parisian sites, the fabulous acting, the whimsical story, amazing costumes and Rachel McAdams' enviable wardrobe.
