Our Pumpkins!

Since we live in a condo, Will and I carved our pumpkins and brought them over to my parent's house. This year, we decided to go with a Nightmare Before Christmas theme. Check them out!

Work Costume: 1960's Mod

I am kinda new to, and not awesome at taking pictures of myself. So, my apologies for the poor quality. I am wearing a dress purchased at Complex about 5 years ago. I don't wear it often but it is great for when I want to look Mod. I paired it with black leggings, teased hair, hair extensions and lots of black eye make-up. I wore black knee high leather boots with this, but are not shown in the photo.

Before and After

This is another great example of how easy it is to update your home with the right details. These stairs were taken out of the late 80's and made classic and modern.

Moroccan Lamps/ Lanterns/ Lighting

I have long had a fondness for Moroccan lamps and lanterns. I love the array of different styles, materials and colours that you can find. Today I was reminded of this as I looked through blogger Holly Becker's photos from her trip to Morocco on her blog Decor8.

There was a cluster of beautiful and ornate lanterns in the room at the Hacienda Resort (Cabo San Lucas, Mexico) where we held our wedding reception:

Here is a selection of the gorgeous variety of lanterns available:

Scarves and How to Wear Them

As the weather turns more rainy and cold here in Victoria, I feel more compelled to dig into my scarf stash to both accessorize and winterize. I have a number of scarves, but I must admit that I am typically lacking in creativity when adorning myself with one. I usually go with wrapping around a couple times, creating a V, or the old loop through. So, I figured it was time to learn some new techniques and share them with you.

After scanning a number of online tutorials on Youtube I came across this informative one from Seventeen Magazine:

Here is another more intricate method:

Series I Love: Secret Diary of a Call Girl

Many women love Sex and the City and I admit that I am a fan. However, I am a much greater fan of Showtime's scintillating British series, Secret Diary of a Call Girl. It is definitely my guilty pleasure show (and one that my husband is willing to watch with me as well). They are currently shooting the 4th season which is expected to air in late January. So, I suggest catching up on the earlier seasons before then!

The series follows the life of a high-end call girl named Belle (or Hannah when she is not being a call girl). The series is based on the anonymously published books by British call girl, 'Belle de Jour'*. Throughout the series we watch as Belle/Hannah attempts to balance her two lives among her clients, friends, family, and potential love interests. Belle/Hannah is played by British teen popstar turned actress Billie Piper, who does a fabulous job in the role. I like the fact that she is not your typical looking tall, super thin model type. She is more real but rather attractive. She is also very well dressed. Check out the pics below.

*Belle revealed her real identity in November of 2009. She is Dr. Brooke Magnanti, Researcher of Child Health at Bristol University.

The rest of the cast are also quite trendy:

Look I Love: Menswear

Yesterday, my husband Will came across a super sleek shop called The Brooklyn Circus. They specialize in up-to-the-minute trendy men's street wear. Check out Will's blog post about Brooklyn Circus here.

Here are the two current 'Style Warriors' from the Brooklyn Circus blog. I have to say I love both of them. I am seriously digging the mix of street and preppy and the close attention to detail in each outfit.

Awesome Dexter Prints

My husband and I LOVE the show Dexter. So, today when I came across Ty Mattson's Prints for each season I was soooo impressed. I love the way that he turned key elements from each season into stylish pop-art. I think I may need a least one of these for my home.

DS DIY: Minimalist Tote Bag

I am totally making this! I love the somewhat nautical look of this bag and the creative closure. Not so sure about the hipster name but I think this is a DIY worth trying out.

Look I Love

Another taste of Miss Pandora's fine fashion selections:

Site I Love: hitrecord.org

Joseph Gordon-Levitt (yes, the actor) created the site hitrecord.org that is what he describes as, a "professional open collaborative production company." The idea is to either start an original collaboration or contribute to an established one in any way that you can. This can be through filming, editing, photography, remixing, sound, music etc. This is really awesome idea and I hope to one day try to contribute in my own way (once I figure out what my way could be).

Here is one of my favorites:

Look I Love

Today I came across a fashion blog called Pandora. This is a personal style blog and this girl is fantastic. Too bad my French language skills are lacking...I would love to read what she has to say. I think I may want to go red now...

Curvy Lady: Sofia Vergera

Being a curvy gal myself (and by curvy I don't mean plus size but rather hourglass shaped) I appreciate seeing celebrities with curves too. I feel like I am still learning how to dress myself and love the opportunity to see how other women do it. So, the first of my series is Sofia Vergara since she makes me laugh every week on 'Modern Family'. I love her sassy Columbian accent and her sexy style.
